Because, as no one in need should be left behind, no one helping should be suffering doing so.

The need for a renewed humanitarian community where aid workers are seen, heard, and cared for.
Over a decade of field, regional, and HQ experience, I too, was faced with the dis-hearting paradox of our sector:
humanitarian values vs. unvalued humanitarians.
Impregnated with solid work ethics, I was very soon challenged with the unresolvable equation of persevering in an overwhelming role without compromising my mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
To this challenge, The Humanitarian Initiative
is my response.
An attempt at offering an alternative.
A space, a reminder, a permission slip for all humanitarians wandering and wondering how the humanitarian sector has drifted so far from its first guiding principle: humanity.

Welcome, I deeply appreciate you being here.
What you will find here is my work to balance a hurting humanitarian world.
I created The Humanitarian Initiative and this healing space out of desperation to reconnect with my exhausted-self, to realign with my values, and to critically assess my next steps.
Through my personal realignment and healing work, I had visions of creating a safe, brave, restorative space for other humanitarians to bring their disillusion, exhaustion, doubts, and stories forward as they piece things back together and find meaning and direction again.

Social justice and fundamental rights for all are the ideals that got me in the humanitarian world in the first place. They are, and will remain, my moral compass in everything I endeavour.
